ABOUT GREG SCHREMP
He was born in South Dakota to a military family. From there he moved to Pittsburgh and then to Goldsboro, North Carolina where he was raised. His father was 15 years his mother's senior and retired when Greg was only eight years old. This provided him with the ability to learn and apply the common sense of his father that is apparent in the way he conducts himself today. It was high school where art became prominent in his life. During those years, he enrolled in over eight art classes and was an officer in the art honors society and art club.
After high school, Greg attended Lees-Mcrae College in Banner Elk, North Carolina. Due to his right brained approach to learning, he ended up in one of the most expensive private schools in NC and the most lenient when it came to SAT scores. Not to mention the school had a total of 800 students. This was the best thing for him. During those two years, he figured out he needed more than a basic liberal arts education and was prepared to work for it. During this time, he started dating his future wife, Kristi which had bering on his next planned course of action. They both transferred to East Carolina University and he enrolled into the School of Art and Design. This is where he found out that most of the classes didn't transfer and would be at least another 4 years until graduation.
East Carolina University is where Greg decided to get back to his roots: art. There he applied the fundamentals of life he learned from his childhood and the passion for art to his declared path of focus: design. ECU took his skill sets and focused them. Here he learned the reason why you create. With typography, graphic design and photography he learned to use these as tools for communication.
He was fortunate to begin his relevant work experience almost 3 years before graduation from East Carolina's School of Art and Design program. The art director of Overton's,the world's largest water sports dealer, took a chance in 1997 to allow him to assist in the photo studio and help with catalog layout while he was completing a BFA in Graphic Design/Photography. From that point he never looked back. After only 5 months, he was shooting and building sets for 3 multi-million circulation catalogs: Overton's, Herter's and Dunn's. He took that break and ran with it; excelling in his field putting him 3 years ahead of most graduating.
Before graduation, he decided to make a move. It was time to expand and put his skills to the test. An opportunity arose to accept a position at a new startup firm in Greenville, Strategic Marketing and Design. The position came with the responsibility of initiating a design problem posed by a client and walking it out; not only till the job was "done", but until the client was satisfied. This position has propelled him into a leadership role to coordinate and execute a design problem from start to finish. He also brings the ability to provide full service photography to the everyday client. Most agencies have to outsource while SMD could now provide clients with low cost options to fulfill their needs.
After working in the industry for 8 years he felt a need and a calling to give back with his talents. In 2006, along with two other colleagues, they started a non-profit called rogue revival. The purpose of this organization is to unite the religious community. How they do this is by providing local churches, ministries and individuals with the tools to reach their community.
In this business it is imperative that you stay current with technology; from software to hardware. He continues to develop his knowledge from an inner passion that keeps him fresh and new, which transfers to his work.
Greg carries his passion for design to other things he enjoys. Snowboarding, wakeboarding and golf are some of the things he loves to do outside of work. He is married and has one child, Baylee. Link to family site.

"The ideal proficiency level in a software application should be at a level that the program is an extension of your mind. The technical hurdles should be jumped so you can concentrate on the design and execution of the project."
