In July of 2014 we made a trip to Alaska for 11 days. The goal was to capture amazing images of Mt. McKinley and wildlife…specifically bears. Neither one was cooperative in coming out, but we were struck in awe of the vast landscapes seen off the Denali Highway. So much so, that these images don’t come close to representing what we saw first hand. As a photographer, it was rather disappointing. But as an outdoorsman, some of the great views of my life…ones that will be etched in my mind forever.
Our trip began in Fairbanks at my Uncle’s Cabin then headed South on Highway 3 towards Denali. We then began our 135 mile trek east on the Denali Highway (Highway 8) over to Paxson Lake and Highway 4 down towards Wrangell-St. Elias National Park & Preserve.
